Operator Safety Foundation is a comprehensive two-hour virtual training program designed to reinforce the fundamental safety principles every towing and recovery operator must understand and practice daily. Whether new to the industry or an experienced professional seeking a refresher, this course provides practical, real-world instruction focused on reducing risk, improving decision-making, and promoting a culture of safety.

Built on ERSCA's core belief that "Safety is a Mindset™," the course emphasizes personal responsibility, situational awareness, and the importance of following established safety procedures during all towing and roadside service operations. Participants will review essential safety concepts, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), daily vehicle inspections, safe tow truck operation, customer interaction, and basic towing procedures.

Topics include safety mindset and core principles, PPE and safety apparel, pre-trip inspections, safe tow truck operation, professionalism and customer service, common service calls and procedures, basic towing techniques, car carrier loading and winch safety, in-tow driving and stopping distance awareness, and scene safety, including recognizing when additional resources or assistance are required.

This training is ideal for new operators, experienced operators needing a refresher, company safety meetings, and annual safety training requirements. Instruction reflects current industry best practices and is designed to help operators work safer, make better decisions, and protect themselves, their coworkers, and the motoring public.
