Comprehensive Heavy-Duty Towing & Recovery Operator Training
This course provides comprehensive training in the fundamental knowledge and skills required for professional heavy-duty towing and recovery operators utilizing equipment with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) exceeding 26,000 pounds. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the responsibilities, safety requirements, and operational procedures necessary to perform heavy-duty towing and recovery services safely, efficiently, and professionally.
Key areas of instruction include operator safety, professional conduct and appearance, vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance, equipment identification and application, load ratings and towing capacities, air brake systems, basic recovery operations, resistance calculations, winch and wire rope applications, proper towing and hookup techniques, and effective incident scene management. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the unique challenges associated with heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, as well as the critical role operators play in protecting public safety and minimizing incident-related risks.
