ERSCA Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) Level 1 – Heavy Duty Operator

The ERSCA Towing and Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) Level 1 – Heavy Duty Operator course is a 16-hour training program designed to provide towing and recovery professionals with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required for safe and effective heavy-duty towing and recovery operations. Training combines classroom instruction with hands-on practical exercises and may be delivered virtually or in person.

Topics include professional conduct, operator responsibilities, equipment familiarization, vehicle clearance techniques, chains, wire rope, straps and slings, rigging principles, load capacities, resistance calculations, air brake systems, towing and hookup procedures, and incident scene management. Emphasis is placed on operator safety, recovery planning, and the efficient clearance of roadway incidents.

The course aligns with industry standards, federal, state, and local regulations, manufacturer recommendations, and company policies. Participants receive an electronic copy of the Essentials of Heavy Duty Towing & Recovery Manual.
